When and how do I see my pictures after the session?
At the completion of the session, we will make an appointment to view the proofs. I do not send links or cds to local clients in order for them to view the proofs on their own from their computer. Viewing from a distance does not provide an opportunity to ask questions and discuss various options. I want my clients to be confident about their choices. For this reason, proofing is done in person.
Do I have to order photographs from you?
This is an interesting question. Some photographers are offering high resolution images on cd. Many clients believe that this provides great value. Unfortunately, doing this can actually cost more money. Photographers colour manage and crop images so that they look their best. However, each image needs to be optimized for certain printing conditions. If every image provided is not optimized for every possible size, printing issues can easily arise. Many clients end up disappointed because printers will crop or zoom the images so they will fit certain sizes (5×7, 8×10). This leads to very unexpected results. Colour shifting is another issue as well. The prints you get in the mail may not look the same as they look on the screen.
I want my clients to be happy with every print they receive. That is why I prefer to prepare and print the images myself.
In the event that the session was for corporate use on billboards etc., I have editing protocols that ensure accurate printing. I am also prepared to work closely with the printers used for these purposes.
How does the payment work?
Once you have chosen a session date, 50% of the session fee is required in order to reserve that date. The remainder of the session fee is payable on the date of the session. If purchasing prints, 50% of the print order is due at the time of placing the order. The remainder is payable upon delivery of the print order.
How far will you travel? What extras are charged?
I will travel within 50 km of Petawawa, Ontario. If further travel is required; accommodation, meals, and transport costs will be incurred by the client.
What is the procedure in case of cancellation?
I understand how unpredictable life can be, therefore it is perfectly fine to cancel a booking. No cancellation fee will be applied when the original booking is rescheduled within two weeks.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes, I do. Gift Certificates can go toward any photographic service. They can be redeemed against session fees/packages, the cost of prints, or workshops.
Senior portraits must come from the “school photographer”.
Not so. Although schools may require you get your yearbook shot from the school photographer, you can go elsewhere for the rest of your images. The purpose of school pictures is to commemorate the school year and to see how your child grows and changes over the years. Schools try their best to provide nice portraits, but have to accomodate so many students. Unfortunately, school pictures have earned the reputation as being cookie-cutter and boring. If you want something different, why not go for it. High school students are very independant and unique. I believe that images reflecting their high school years should also be different and unique.
I’m not photogenic and hate having my pictures taken, so my pictures will look awful.
I absolutely don’t believe that! I think everyone is uniquely beautiful and my goal is to capitalize on that beauty and show it in your images. During our pre-session consultation, we will discuss things you will like to shine through as well as things you would like to minimize. I use natural lighting and posing in a fun, relaxed way to create special images for you that you will love.
